Canon-Pixma-MG7170-2013

Canon India Pvt Ltd. has added five new all-in-one photo printers to its PIXMA line-up. Out of these, three are cloud-enabled inkjet printers (Pixma MG7170, Pixma MG6470, and Pixma MG3570) and two are affordable inkjet printers (Pixma MG2570 and Pixma MG2470). Canon has not only integrated new technology into the printers, but has also equipped three of them with Wi-Fi support. By adding these 5 printers, the PIXMA line-up now has 27 models in total. The official prices of these printers are listed at the end of this post.

According to Canon, the new printers are easy to install and use. As I had mentioned above, the three wireless printers have Wi-Fi and smart device connectivity, which allows the users to "print-on-the-go'" by using multiple devices to fire prints off, "anywhere" and "anytime". These printers also allow the users of imaging apps and services like Dropbox and Flickr to print directly from their respective interfaces. The three models mentioned earlier also have PIXMA Cloud Link that allows the users to print from various social networking sites, photo sharing sites, cloud storage services and also from personal devices via the Android OS and iOS PIXMA Printing Solutions application.

These new printers are available in a variety of colours including black, white, red, grey-white and brown. The company claims that the customers who use original ink-cartridges will get high quality photo-prints that will not fade with time and the printing material will last up to an alleged 300 years. These new printers are also environment-friendly and they come with features like Auto Power On. This technlogy will turn on the device whenever it detects a print command to save your electricity bills.

The MG7170, MG6470 and MG3570 provide the users with two-sided document printing so as to reduce paper usage and promote noiseless printing operations. These new printers also come with Canon's My Image Garden software application that helps the users to design photo layouts, create calendars, collages and stationary with their own text/date stamp.

Alok Bharadwaj, Vice President of Canon India, says that Canon India is aiming to make Rs. 175 crore revenue this year from its printer business, due to the strong demand for inkjet printers, which has led to a 25% growth in sales in the segment. Canon India claims to 29% share of the inkjet market in India, and estimates the total size of the segment is roughly Rs. 1,400 crore or 12 lakh units in sales. According to Gartner, HP lead the Indian printer, copier and MFP market in Q2 2013 with a 52% share of the market, which is followed by Canon at 24%, Epson at 9% and Samsung at 8%.
