India's leading mobile phone manufacturer, Micromax, has recently
announced its plans to expand its business into Russia and other
European markets. Now, the company's co-founder, Rahul Sharma, in an
interview with Times Of India, has admitted that the company is working
on a smartphone based on Microsoft's Windows Phone OS. Moreover, he also
stated that the handset would be made ready to be launched by the mid
of next year.
In the interview, he said, "We are working on a Windows phone and
you might see something from us around mid of next year."
Thus, Micromax is certainly working on a new Windows Phone based
smartphone. However, the co-founder didn't shed any light on the specs
and price of the upcoming device in the interview.
The second largest smartphone manufacturer in India, has been on a news
continuously eversince it started teasing the Canvas Turbo, the
company's first phablet with 2GB RAM and FHD display. The device is
already available for sale on Infibeam.
Additionally, the homegrown manufacturer also surprised its fans by
roping in one of the most popular Hollywood stars, Hugh Jackman, as its
brand ambassador. However, appointing the actor is probably the part of
the bigger plan of the company to expand globally.
