What actually Leap Motion is?

Leap Motion is a company developing advanced motion sensing technology for human–computer interaction. Originally inspired by frustration surrounding 3D modeling using a mouse and keyboard.

Multi-touch desktop is a (miserably) failed product due to the fact that hands could get very tired with prolonged use, but Leap Motion wants to challenge this dark area again with a more advanced idea. It lets you control the desktop with fingers, but without touching the screen !

Leap Motion has partnered with ASUS who is expected to ship high end notebooks, and All in One PCs with the technology later in 2013. Leap Motion also announced a deal with Hewlett Packard to embed its technology within HP computers.

Technology:

The Leap Motion controller is a small USB peripheral device which is designed to be placed on a physical desktop, facing upward. Using two cameras and three infrared LEDs, the device observes a roughly hemispherical area, to a distance of about 1 meter (3 feet). It is designed to track fingers (or similar items such as a pen) which cross into the observed area, to a spatial precision of about 0.01 mm.

The Leap was shown to perform tasks such as navigating a website, using pinch-to-zoom gestures on maps, high-precision drawing, and manipulating complex 3D data visualizations.

Features :

Sensitivity is 200 times better than any device in the market.

Leap Motion can track every individual finger on each of your hand and is sensitive to movements up to 1/100th of a millimeter at a staggering 290 frames/second .

The Leap Motion Controller will also be accompanied by an app store called Airspace - See more at: http://www.gsmnation.com/blog/2013/02/28/leap-motion-ships-out-on-may-13/#sthash.I2P4yrA1.dpuf
The Leap Motion controller will also be accompanied by an App Store called Airspace.

Requirements :

This technology will support Windows 7 , Windows 8 and MAC OSX 10.7 and 10.8.

Price & Availability :

The Leap is already available for pre-order at $70 and will begin shipping in the December to February timeframe.
