According to John Riccitiello, former CEO of EA, 2014 will finally be the year Battlefield tops Call of Duty. In an interview with GI International, Riccitiello shares his views on the future of Activision.

One of the biggest differences between consoles belonging to the current generation and the ones that are arriving for the next is the kind of output we will be getting for different cross-generational titles arriving later this year. As far as common sense is concerned, the next generation consoles are expected to offer a significantly better visual output as opposed to their current-gen versions.
But it has already been confirmed by the developers that Call of Duty: Ghosts will not feature a brand new engine.

While this new confirmation will be enough to satisfy a number of Call of Duty fans waiting to play Ghosts on their current generation Xbox 360s and PlayStation 4s, it shouldn’t really come as a surprise to anyone simply owing to fact the game’s nearest rival – EA’s Battlefield 4 – will also be featuring dynamic maps of entirely different scale with its new Levolution concept.

This is a new bit of information related to the game after Activision previously admitted that pre-orders for Call of Duty: Ghosts are down compared to last year’s Black Ops 2. Activision had blamed the uncertainties surrounding the transition from current to next-gen for the low number of pre-orders for the game.

Battlefield 4 will be available on October 29 for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 and will also be made available for PS4 and Xbox One once the consoles launch.

Call of Duty : Ghosts is currently set for a November 5 release on PC, PlayStation 3, Wii U, and Xbox 360, with versions for next generation Xbox One and PlayStation 4 arriving later.
